Discover our gourmand gifts selection for Fathers’ Day

Fathers’ Day will take place in a few days, this year on sunday 18th june. For this occasion, we suggest you a selection of gourmand gifts to please your dads.

The sweet treats

To wish a good Fathers’ Day to all the dads or simply to please them, the Délices de Camille made a stunning normand traditional jam soft in mouth, based on the association of apple, pear and beer (amber beer and stout beer made by Steve from Mobsby’s brewery in the Calvados department).
As for them, the Comptoirs de Mathilde propose a wide range of chocolate tabs. We advise you the “mendiants” tab : milk chocolate, cranberries and caramelized almonds ; black chocolate and orange with dried fruits ; black chocolate with blueberries and caramelized pecan nuts ; milk chocolate with caramelized nuts. A traditional association of both softness and crispness much appreciated by sweet lovers.

The hot drinks

Cotentin Café, our Normand roaster, proposes some “grand cru” coffees, 100% arabica, coming from small local producers. For Fathers’ Day, we selected this strong and fruity moka with a nice freshness and an exceptional aromatic scent. This coffee has been collected on the tableland of Sidamo area situated at the heart of Ethiopia. The volcanic lands of the African rift valley bring to this coffee its character so particular.

The alcohols

We suggest this Calvados “vieille réserve” rich of tradition and authenticity produced by the Cave Normande. This controlled designation of Origin Calvados slightly gained in maturity in oak barrels, with the attentive eye and care of the head cellarman. This blend of calvados, aged of at least 8 years, both flexible and fruity, is a subtle mix between the powerful scents of Normandy and the taste of an old Calvados. It will certainly remind childhood memories to your daddy.
In a similar note, the 44 is an emblematic recipe of Normandy. As a point of interest, we used to make macerate an orange in 1 liter of  eau de vie with 44 coffee seeds and 44 sugar lumps. The Route 44, produced by Terres Normandes, takes this Normand traditional recipe up again, made using calvados, fresh fruits and roasted coffee seeds. They added their personal style by adding genuine madagascar vanilla and ceylan cinnamon. This Calva “arrangé” is a real wonder ! Not-to-be-missed…
More traditional, the rum baba is a speciality to the Comptoir de Mathilde. Those authentic Babas are made in accordance with tradition : a savarin cake soflty soaked with liqueur syrup. It develops a taste that will fill all the sweet teeth with happiness.

The accessories

With a selection of almost 50 recipes of the best calvados cocktails, this book published by the Normand company OREP was concocted by two well-known experts. It will allow your dad to prepare excellent blendings made from calvados. Thus, he will be able to taste the best cocktails selected to the International Trophies, an event which gathers this year a hundred of the best professional and student bartenders all over the world. Those cocktails open the doors to new degustation moments of calvados in long drink or short drink.
The small liqueur glasses Heula will offer him the opportunity to savour its favourite eaux de vie, regardless how he calls them : eau de vie, hard stuff, Calva, liqueur, rotgut…
